After you file
I recommend that the first thing you should do is to review a copy of your tax return that was filed.
If you filed recently, when you spoke to the State Revenue Department they probably had not yet actually processed the accepted tax return. You will need to call back, ask when the return will be processed and when someone can review your return (as filed) with you.
If your return was accepted by the State with a certain amount of refund, but that wasn't what was deposited then either;
(1) they deducted something from your refund - such as child support, student loans, taxes, or another debt
(2) they made a change to your return when they processed it, and you will receive correspondence indicating what the change has been made.
(3) the state has made an error in the amount that was refunded to you.
