The IRS does not list exactly how long it takes to receive a refund in paper check form. They issue most refunds in less than 21 days, if your return is e-filed. If you mailed a paper return, allow for 6 weeks to receive your refund. Of course, you will need to allow for additional time to receive a check by mail.
