An amended (Form 1040X) cannot be e-filed. You have to print it, sign it, and file it by mail. If you didn't mail it, you didn't file it.
It takes the IRS up to 16 weeks to process an amended return. You can't check the status on the IRS web site until about 3 weeks after you mail it. Check the status at the following link on the IRS web site.
