After you file

When you pay for TurboTax you are paying for the use of the TurboTax Program and that's it. Doesn't matter if it's the CD version or the online  version. You're paying for the right to use their software to prepare and file your own tax return.

If filing a state return you pay for the state tax software separately and you also pay for the use of e-filing that state return with the TurboTax software. Once all returns are e-filed and accepted by the IRS and/or state, then TurboTax has met thier obligation that you paid for. Unless one has a valid 100% Accuracy claim on a tax return, once all returns are e-filed and accepted, TurboTax has fulfilled their obligation and has no additional responsibility or liability.

Now in the past TTX has offered additional coverages for such services as an add-on that one pays additional money for. For example their Audit Defense option where a 3rd party (not TurboTax) will represent you on any disputes that may arise between the IRS and/or state. But that package has to be purchased before the audit event occurs. You can't get it after the fact.
