Firstly, does it make sense that you are a dependent of another taxpayer? Does someone else provide your support? Are you a student and/ or child/ young person? Obviously, you should ensure that your father has the right to claim you.
If he does, you need to indicate that you are being claimed as a dependent on another return:
- Go back into Turbo Tax
- Click on the Personal Info tab
- Click the Edit pencil next to your name
- scroll down to Someone else can claim me as a dependent on their tax return and click Yes
- continue to refile your return
You can still file a tax return if you have income and are being claimed as a dependent. You just need to make the notation above.
