After you file

You can amend. But, If you took the standard deduction this won't make a difference.

If you took itemized deductions, or added all of your deductions because you wanted to see which was best for you, then you should go ahead and amend to find out if your refund increases.


To amend:

Log in, and click the blue Amend link in the bottom left side of the paragraph.

NOTE: You MUST wait for the original returns to be accepted or rejected before doing anything. All amendments are required to be mailed.

If your return is rejected you can make the needed changes then resubmit them by E-file.  

If your return is accepted you MUST wait until they have been fully processed and you have either received the original refund or paid the original balance due before amending them.
