I called the treasury offset number and it says there are no offsets for my social security number but they took my Missouri state refund for a offset why?

After you file

For a state offset, you need to contact your state to see why. Only they can tell you what the offset was for. It could be due to past due tax liability with your state, but you'd have to check directly with them to find out why. They should also send you a letter explaining why it happened. TurboTax has no access to offset information.

You can go here http://dor.mo.gov/contact/personal.php for contact number to call Missouri's Department of Revenue for assistance. You may also be able to reach a collection technician at (573) 751-7200.

Per MO's Department of Revenue:
"Can the Department intercept my state income tax refund to apply to other taxes I owe the Department?
Yes. The Department can intercept a refund of state income tax and apply it towards any income tax debt from previous years. If the individual owns a business that has delinquent sales tax, use tax, employer's withholding tax or corporate income tax their income tax refund may be applied towards these debts. You will receive a letter from the Department if your refund is intercepted."
