After you file
Is it from a company called SBTPG, or Santa Barbara Tax Products Group, or Tax Products Group? It sounds like you chose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund. Here's how that works:
If you chose to pay your TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund, your funds will first go from the IRS to a temporary account at an intermediary bank--either Civista Bank of Sandusky, Ohio, or Green Dot Bank. At the intermediary bank the fees are subtracted, then the rest of your funds are sent on to your bank (or prepaid debit card) in a second deposit. The company that handles that is SBTPG (Santa Barbara Tax Products Group.) SBTPG is a Green Dot Company.
It sounds like the second deposit failed (the one that is actually to your bank), in which case it would have bounced back to SBTPG's bank who will issue you a paper check in the mail.
So it sounds like that is what happened, and I suspect that check is from SBTPG. You should be able to deposit it into your bank account, or should be able to cash it at your bank or any bank that will cash a check (they may charge a fee if you are not a bank customer.) I don't know if a commercial check-cashing service will cash it or not. If they do, there would be a fee.
Based on your question above, it sounds like you have a bank account. So why not just deposit or cash it at your own bank?
