Yes it can take at least 6-8 weeks to receive the amended refund from the date the approved it. The IRS pays interest to the taxpayer at the federal short-term rate plus 3 percentage points which changes each quarter. The IRS publishes interest rates on underpayments and overpayments for every quarter. You can find the rates on the IRS website www.irs.gov.
