Its "deductible". However, your itemized deductions need to be greater than the standard deduction:
Single, Married Separate $6,300
Married Joint, Qualifying Widow(er) $12,600
Head of Household $9,300
That's not a large figure for mortgage interest, so that, your property taxes, charity, state or sales taxes, etc. need to be greater than the standard to make a difference.
If you are not filing a Form 1040, or have a 1040 with the standard amount on line 40, you are not itemizing.
