After you file
Yes, it'll work. When you asked your employer for the W-2, they simply gave you the top copy (copy A). If you're filing on paper, you'll include that copy A with the return (but make a copy for yourself so you have it for your records).
If you're e-filing, then you won't need to send the W-2 to IRS unless they request it at a later date.
