I didn't realize I could claim head of household eventhough I do not claim my son this year. Can I amend my return?

My son's father and I alternate years for claiming our son.  It was brought to my attention this year that I am still able to claim head of household.  I didn't know that until after I filed today.  Am I able to go in and amend it before it is filed?
