After you file
Unlike the fully-featured desktop version, the online version does not have Forms Mode for direct viewing and editing of forms.
You can preview the Form 1040 at any time without paying, but in order to view and print the actual forms in your return, you need to pay in advance. I'll tell you how below.
You won't be able to see forms you are not using unless you use the desktop product (CD/download) or go to the IRS website. If you switch to the desktop product, it has Forms Mode for direct viewing and editing of forms being used, as well as other forms you can open to look at. You can also see blank forms at the IRS website.
You can preview the Form 1040 at any time for free. Here's how:
- With the
return open, click on MY ACCOUNT at the top, then TOOLS.
- Then choose
"View Tax Summary".
- At the top of the Tax Summary window there is a tab-link to "Preview Form 1040."
To pay in advance to view/print your Form 1040 and other forms at any time:
- With the return open, click on MY ACCOUNT at the top, then PRINT CENTER.
- Choose "Print/save/preview this year's return."
- It will then prompt you to pay by credit/debit card. Once paid, you can view/print the forms at will.
