After you file

The rules are tougher for nonstudent children over 19, but your 22-year old daughter can possibly be claimed as your dependent if
 - You provided more than half of her support during the year;
 - She has less than $4,050 of her own income (taxable or nontaxable); and
 - She lived with you for more than half they year.
If you have already filed without claiming her, you will need to amend in order to claim her. Just to avoid confusion and crossed wires, some folks recommend waiting until your original return is accepted and your original refund is received before filing the amendment. If a larger refund is due based on the amended return, they will send you the difference, but amended returns take much longer, so that payment is likely to be sometime next summer.
