After you file

That's an excellent observation you make!  This is especially so if you've filed Oregon state income tax returns in the past.  The reason you don't (and won't) see any boxes or lines on the Oregon tax forms this year is that the Oregon Department of Revenue has redesigned their 2-dimenisional barcode tax forms (those printed by tax software programs like TurboTax and our worthy competitors) for 2016.  In other words, they've eliminated most of the boxes and lines from those Oregon state tax forms produced by computer.

In fact, if you visit their website (http://www.oregon.gov/dor/forms/Pages/default.aspx) you'll see that they've also renamed many of their tax forms with new names and designations this year too.  In short, they've been busy between the 2015 and 2016 tax years.

Returning to your original question, what you see and experience (lacking boxes and lines) with the Oregon tax forms is considered perfectly normal this year, and is not an error in the TurboTax program, Adobe's software, or your own printer.  In Oregon, this is their new tax document standard.

Therefore, please don't worry that you've made an error with the Oregon TurboTax program, or that something is necessarily wrong.  In all likelihood what you've noticed is simply the Oregon DOR's tax forms redesign.

Thank you for asking about this, and for posting on the AnswerXchange.
