Amending my 2015 return, good idea or no?
I left some tax deductions I knew I had on the table when I did last year's return and went ahead and filed without them. I was in a bit of a hurry and was getting a decent refund anyway. I am now done with 2016 and it occurred to me that I can go back and amend my 2015 return, claim those deductions, and get more money from the IRS...as I understand it. My main question is this; does anyone know if going back and amending the previous year's return (which gives me a larger 2015 refund overall) set off a red flag for an IRS audit. I am not too worried about since I purchased the full package of Audit Defense anyway but I would like to know if I am "raising the bar" for an audit from the IRS for last year's return and even this year's return by filing for an amended return that gives me more money? Any thoughts?
