Get your taxes done using TurboTax

Hello Chenw23,

Thank you for reaching out to us with your tax question.

We normally recommend that you amend your taxes AFTER you receive a refund from your original tax return.

However, it could also be that your return has errors or needs more review and may take a longer time to process. Other possibilities could be the following:

  1. The return is incomplete or is affected by identity theft or fraud.
  2. The return requires a correction to the recovery rebate credit amount or the child tax credit.
  3. The return includes a claim filed for an earned income credit; additional child tax credit, or it includes Form 8379 – Injured Spouse Allocation.
  4. The time it takes the taxpayer’s bank or credit union to post the refund to the taxpayer’s account.

There is not much you can do now except wait until the IRS sends you your refund.

In the meantime, you can enroll in the IRS’ “Where’s My Refund” tool, if you have not already done so. It is a new and improved tool that allows taxpayers to check the status of their refunds for the 2021, 2020, and 2019 years.

Below is the link for the IRS’ “Where’s my refund” tool:

Please let me know if you have additional questions. Have a great day!

Regards,
