Not understanding the 2022 ontario trillium benefit
Hello,
I am currently doing my taxes and I am now at the section about the 2022 Ontario trillium benefits.
You may qualify for the 2022 Ontario Trillium Benefit: There are two sections and the first line is where I am unclear "Rent or property tax for your principal residence in Ontario was paid by or for you in 2021,"
- Ontario Energy and Property Tax Credit (OEPTC)
- Northern Ontario Energy Credit (NOEC)
- Does this mean that we paid the taxes for the home that we own and live in and do I select yes for both my spouse and me?
- On the next page, it says "Enter the amount(s) paid for rent, property tax, home energy costs for a principal residence on a reserve, and/or accommodation in a public long-term care home. Enter the information on the return of the spouse who will claim the credits.
- Do I just fill out the address, and property taxes paid for 2021?
I am unsure about this whole section.
Thanks in advance!
