Never filee taxes before and I have a 1099
So last year, I got access to my brokerage account and got a little crazy with it by selling all most of the stocks.
Earlier this year, I got a 1099 form from Vanguard and the gain/loss is about $5000. I'm just realizing I might be screwed. I'm genuinely scared and I don't want to go to jail or anything like that.
Do I have to file a 1040, which I've never done before or what should I do? I'm debating on going to an IRS office and asking help, but if I can get immediate help here, I would like to do so. I will gladly pay penalties and everything, I just don't want to be in trouble.
Please help, I'm 21 and I'm just scared out of my mind.
