During 2001 I used my house as the primary residence for the first 205 days. I rented out the house for 133 days. I input personal day use as 0, rental day use as 133. When I entered the expense amount of $10,829 it is for 133 days, the rental period only. Turbo Tax calculated the rental expense as $6,808. Turbo tax calculates management fee as 100% and other expense is pro rated automatically.
1) Why is Turbo Tax's calculation different from the expense I entered?
2) I input personal days use as 0. Is that correct? I also input personal days use as 205. Turbo Tax still gets $6,808 either way.
3) Can someone walk me through to solve this problem?
4) Do I need to enter Schedule E?
