@SheilaloveB50 - not sure what you are trying to accomplish is going to work - nor why would it matter.

 

If someone has the right to claim you under IRS rules, then they can.  They don't need your permission.  And it is their option whether they do or not.  What they decide doesn't affect your tax filing in any event.

 

But when you file a tax return, you are asked CAN someone claim you.  Whether that someone claims you or not, your response to CAN someone claim you is the same.  

 

For simplicity, someone CAN claim you if 

  • you earned less than $4300 (2021 figure) excluding social security
  • you lived with someone who provided more than 50% of your financial support
  • you lived with that someone for at least 6 months of the calendar year
