if the difference is exactly $18, then it's likely you made a transposition error during manual entry. example 31 entered instead of 13 or vice versa. we can't see what you did nor the documents so this is a guess.
either manual or import. go to schedule D and total the sales and cost columns. then do the same for the other method. this should identify where the difference arises.
