Get your taxes done using TurboTax

I'm not sure how you were able to do it with investotek, I tried it and when I went to the broker instructions page, it clearly says it does not work with E*Trade right now and you have to use their full service.

Here is the excerpt from today, 4/18:

E*Trade

Unfortunately, there are currently a few issues with data from E*Trade. Note that you will be using a download from the "Portfolios" view and NOT from the "Tax Center". Previously, you could obtain a "Realized" gain/loss download that was directly compatible with Excel2TXF. However, it appears that they now only offer a "Taxable" gain/loss download which unfortunately requires additional manipulation. We are working to update the software to deal with the issues, but it will take another week or two. For now, you will need to choose the full service option (If you already purchased the software, but need to switch to the Full-Service option, you can upgrade here.

1. Click on "Portfolios" under the "Accounts" menu.
2. Click on "Gains & Losses" in the Portfolios menu.
3. Select the appropriate year in the "Time Period" box and verify that the "Date From" and "Date Closed" are correct.
4. Click the download arrow at the upper right next to the printer icon.
4. In the Download popup, select the "Expanded View (including lots)" option and click "Download".

Note: There is one more problem with Etrade's data - they list the 'Open' and 'Close' transactions, rather than the 'Buy' and 'Sell' transactions, so if you have any short-sales, the data will be in the wrong order. But, no worries - Excel2TXF will automatically adjust for these entries.
