I lost the federal 1099-INT for a previous year's interest on the refund, how to get new one?
I was sent a federal IRS 1099-INT for interest on a refund from an earlier year's taxes. I misplaced it. I don't remember how much was on it.
I have filed an extension for both state and federal and paid estimated state taxes (federal is a refund). How do I get a duplicate - or at least get someone to tell me what the amount was?
I discovered you can't find that information on my IRS.gov account (that would be a logical place to put a copy but then why would the IRS do anything logical?).
I realize calling the IRS Monday is hopeless (which is why I filed an extension) but then again I haven't been able to get through even when they are not in the height of the tax season. I am hoping there is another way to get it other than calling as likely I'd never get it if I have to call.
Thank you.
