The 1099 is a tax code problem. I have never been self-employed - however some work we do as academics gets reported as 1099. It's ridiculous but not relevant here. The point is Turbotax is great at getting you near where you need to be - more like guidance. However it is not perfect and if an individual makes an override we should be able to do so and accept that turbotax does not back our return. I'm fine with that.
