Get your taxes done using TurboTax

The class action suit idea is interesting.  Crank up your favorite search engine and look for:  Intuit TurboTax lawsuit.  You'll find loads of articles. relating to a class action brought against Intuit.

The most comprehensive piece seems to be this one.

TurboTax Maker Intuit Faces Tens of Millions in Fees in a Groundbreaking Legal Battle Over Consumer Fraud

The class action ran into trouble because of an arbitration clause in the EULA, but that led to a switch to the novel approach of mass arbitration, as described here, among other places:

Intuit, the maker of TurboTax, faces tens of millions of dollars in costs in a landmark

judicial battle against consumer fraud.

Also of interest is this press release on March 29 or this year from the FTC:

FTC Sues Intuit for Its Deceptive TurboTax “free” Filing Campaign

None of this solves our immediate problem, but it is consistent with the cavalier handling of it.  It's hard to blame the individual tech personnel.  They likely have not been provided with the resources to test the products properly and fix any flaws.
