Switched jobs paid x2 max Social Security and max x2 NY FPL (box 14)
Hi there, in 2021 our company sold our business to another company. Because of this, I received an extra bonus, which was nice and all of the employee's RSUs (restricted stock units) were vested ALL-AT-ONCE 😉 - this resulted in the highest income I have ever received and it pushed me up a 2 brackets (JUST barely on last at least)
This resulted in my paying the maximum FICA/SS deduction to both employers. I THINK TurboTax is automatically handling this by putting in that $8,854 on a seperate line, I just can't find it clicking on the various Federal Taxes screens I saw. I am not getting much of a refund (1,200 vs $7,500 in 2020) while paying FICA x2 - so I wanted to make sure it is due to being pushed up brackets and/or their not selling enough shares to cover tax liability (usually this contributes to more refund since they remove more than my normal effective tax rate)
I also seem to have in Box14 of my W2 the same amount of $385.34 for NY FPL deducted for each of the 2 employers. I googled and was under the impression that $385.34 is the max I should be deducted for the NY Family Paid Leave premiums. Will this money be returned? How do I cause that if it is in Turbo Tax or otherwise?
TLDR:
1) How do I check if the "credit/refund" of 2x Max Social Security payment is already done?
2) I believe I paid x2 max NY FPL premiums (max to each of my 2 consequetive employers) - is there a way to get this adjusted/returned? How do I do this?
