Ok ... you do not have to pay the state right now if you don't have the money ... choosing the mail check option did not require you to pay anything right away ... but what was more important was that you either filed timely or filed an extension. If you did neither then you are officially late and the penalties and interest have started accruing. If that was your ONLY reservation then file the return now (since you were not worried about that portion of the situation) and pay something with the voucher you mail if you can if not the state will be happy to mail you a bill. You do not need a paid preparer to tell you this ... sorry you did not post this question sooner to be educated.
