Get your taxes done using TurboTax
The problem here is the question, "What type of High Deductible Health Plan" did [name] have on December 1, 2020?"
This question does not apply to most taxpayers.
If you did not have an HSA in 2020 or you did not contribute to your HSA in 2020, then you should answer NONE to this questions.
TurboTax is trying to find out if you used the "last-month" rule in 2020, but it couldn't ask you that because you would not have known what that was. Unfortunately the question being used instead isn't any clearer.
So it's simple: Did you (personally, not your spouse) have an HSA in 2020 and did you contribute to it in 2020? If so, then answer Family or Self depending on your HDHP coverage on that date. Otherwise, answer NONE and you won't see the error message.
