To anyone still having this issue, here's the issue we had (which is the same as everyone else in this thread) and how we solved it.
The issue:
- We installed TT from a Costco CD onto a computer with a CD drive.
- We then tried to install TT on a different computer (with no CD drive) by downloading it from the internet
- When we put in the activation code, we got the "This license code has already been associated with an account" error
The solution:
- Basically all we have to do is move the files from the CD onto the computer with no CD drive. Here's one way to do this:
- On the computer with the CD inserted, insert a USB
- Copy the contents of the CD onto the USB (for me the CD had three items: a "TurboTax 2021" folder, an "autorun.inf" file, and a "SetUp.exe" file)
- Note: to find those files on the CD so you can copy them, open up windows explorer (windows key + E), and on the left, expand "This PC". One of the options there will be the turbo tax DVD. Click on it, and the files will show up on the right. You can select these files, right click, and copy.
- Move the USB to the computer that doesn't have a CD drive
- Double click "SetUp.exe" from the USB. This should start the install wizard
- When you get to the point during installation where you have to type in the activation code, it should work and should not give you the error
