In checking whether code M causes any additional problems on Form 8949, I stumbled upon a simple trick to move the transactions to line 8b. I hope you are using the Desktop software (from a disc or download) because it doesn't seem to work in the Online version.
Here is what I did:
- On the screen that says, Select any less common adjustments that apply, I checked the last option, An adjustment is required for a reason not already covered.
- I enter 0 in the box that popped up.
- This moved the transaction to line 8b and did not cause any other issues.
