I noticed the same thing after entering 1099-Q and 1098-T data. This resulted in Turbotax indicating we owed a lot in Federal and state income taxes, even though our tuition, room and board and qualified expenses exceeding the 529 account distribution. Not filling out the 1099-Q misses the point of why TurboTax reduces the qualified education expenses by $10000. Furthermore some of us rely on TurboTax to review tax calculations for the year and in the case of an audit.
