I've done what you suggested and the feds still reject my e-filing.
I tried 3 various permutations for changing my son's dependent data and each filing was rejected.
Finally, I deleted ALL my dependents, saved, closed TurboTax, re-opened it, re-added 3 of my dependents (leaving the one son off) and did e-file again; Rejected again.
I do not want to mail my return in. That just gives me enormous anxiety waiting to hear if I made some mistake or something and now owe like $20,000 (I know $20,000 isn't realistic, I'm being facetious).
