Get your taxes done using TurboTax
Hi CarissaM,
I have updated the my desktop software today. So it is the latest one.
Since you are the employee of the TurboTax Specialist, I wondering if you can give us a more like official response regarding the 8915-F issues ( related to 2020 covid disaster three years payment). The issue is regarding the final smart check that requires to enter the disaster name that is not exist or shall not enter per IRA instruction. Some people on this site found that if leaving the 8915E line 4b blank when asked or enter a space or something to the name will fix the issue and then the software will let you continue and file the tax return. People indicated that their returns have been accepted by IRS.
my question is that if we left 8915E line 4b blank/or enter "0", when asked to enter the number from 2020 8915E, then we did not follow TurboTax's instruction. Or when we enter the no exist name ( space or what ever) when asking for a disaster name, then we did not follow IRS's instruction.
Even IRS has accepted many people's return, I still wonder if this is the correct way to do it, or TurboTax needs to give us an official response on what is the right to do it.
I will really appreciate any help you can give us to clarify this.
