The difference between the two figures makes me wonder: Did you choose the option to pay TurboTax fees out of your Federal refund? If so, there is an additional 39.99 service fee (44.99 for California filers.)
If that's your situation, have you already filed? If not, we can tell you how to remove that "pay-out-of-refund" option and pay upfront with credit/debit card to avoid that service fee.
So could this be your situation?
- A Premier Federal return at $89.
- A state return at $49.
- Did you choose to pay out of the Federal refund? 39.99 (or 44.99 California)
- Plus possible sales tax.
If that doesn't explain it, did you by any chance add the optional MAX Benefits?
