For tax years 2021, taxpayers are allowed to deduct $300/$600 (MFJ) cash donations to a charity or charities without taking itemized deductions. Before 2020, in order to deduct donations to charities, you had to take the itemized deductions. Otherwise, no deductions were allowed for charitable donations.
