Get your taxes done using TurboTax
I received an INCORRECT Letter 6475 stating I had received an Economic Impact Payment in 2021. I verified everything I received through direct deposit from the IRS, and I simply DID NOT RECEIVE IT. I was looking for answers in the community forum, but was coming up empty until I found "How do I claim the Recovery Rebate Credit in TurboTax?" and read past the part about verifying whether or not you received stated funds...
The answer is to
"enter all of your federal return information as you would normally."
Then, during the Federal Review, there is a screen if you qualified with the information you have entered: "DID YOU GET A THIRD STIMULUS?"
I answered "NO" and all of the subsequent questions, factually, instead of what the IRS Letter 6475 stated. TurboTax handled the information appropriately, and we not only got a Recovery Rebat Credit for me, but we got it for my husband as well. (I would not have even searched for this or known how to handle it if I hadn't have received the letter from the IRS that I knew was incorrect.)
Hopefully you were able to find and make this correction before submitting your tax return.
If you enter what the IRS said you received in their letter, even though you didn't actually receive it, TurboTax will not appropriately credit what you qualify for at the time you are preparing your tax return.
Hope this helps.
