We don't know what stage you are in and what all you are doing and why.
Have you already filed? Or are you still in the preparation stage and want to make that change prior to filing?
If TurboTax is using the summary method on Sch D, lines 1a and 8a, that means you instructed it to. If you haven't yet filed and want to change that instruction, here's how:
When you first begin to enter your 1099-B a screen says "Tell us about your 1099-B", and the first question on that page asks you to choose between:
- I'll enter one sale at a time.
- I'll enter a summary for each category.
The first method creates Forms 8949. The second method (summary) does not.
