The above is not quite correct. The page "Amount of extension payment made for 2020" shows up whether I choose to receive the refund or apply it to 2022 taxes. If it's applied to taxes, the extension payment page shows the amount to be applied as the amount of extension payment made for 2020. If I choose to take the refund, the amount field is blank.
I went through more of the FORMS tab you pointed out and still do not see any reason TT thinks I made an extension payment for 2020. When I installed the 2021 version, it did not detect the existing TT files. I had to give it a pathname to the (default) dir. It appeared to have pulled in all data correctly after that.
