You would enter the HVAC system as an asset if it is associated with a business or rental property.
When working on your business, you will see the screen that says Your (name of business) Business. One of the items in the list will be Business Assets and then Assets Being Depreciated. Start or update that option and follow the instructions to enter your asset.
