Dependents
My ex-husband and I share custody of our children under the terms of our decree. We are to switch off every year in claiming the children on our taxes. In March 2021, he decided to let the children live with me permanently because the children requested it. This would normally be his year to claim them, but he does not pay child support. Since they lived with me for more than half of the year and I provided more than half of their support, may I claim them on my taxes? More than likely, he will try to claim them before I do.
