Get your taxes done using TurboTax
If your E-filed return was rejected due to your son's social security number (SSN) already being used on another tax return, we don't have the information of who claimed him and aren't able to tell you who stole it.
- The first place to check, is the other parent of the child.
If a tax return has been filed with your son's SSN, you won't be able to E-file your return but you can prepare the return with him as your dependent and mail in the return. The IRS will most likely contact you and the other party that claimed your son requiring additional information as to who can rightfully claim your son so be prepared to show proof.
