As a precaution to make sure that any child tax credit and advance child tax credit payments are correctly reported, TurboTax asks questions about the child tax credit to every taxpayer and fills out form 8812.
In fact, some people do not have dependents in 2021 but may have received advance child tax credit payments because they had dependents in 2020.
If you have no child dependent, just enter 0. If you did not receive advance child tax credit payments, enter 0.
