Get your taxes done using TurboTax

No, TurboTax will not let you file if there are errors.  I am not aware of any bugs in TurboTax.  How did you enter your 1099-B - Stocks, Bonds, or Mutual Funds?   I am assuming you probably imported them.   My guess is that the information did not import correctly.   You are going to have to go back and review all of the 1099-B entries and verify them against a hard copy of the 1099-B.   Hopefully, you have a printed copy of the 1099-B.

To get back to the 1099-B entries:

TurboTax Online

  1. Open TurboTax if it is not already open;
  2. Go to Federal section;
  3. Select Wages & Income;
  4. Scroll down to Investment Income;
  5. Select Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
  6. Select the Brokerage Company and then click on Review
  7. Review the transactions and verify the information is correct.

For TurboTax Desktop

  1. Open TurboTax if it is not already open;
  2. Go to Federal Taxes;
  3. Click on Wage and Income and select I'll choose what I want to work on
  4. Scroll down to Investment Income;
  5. Click on the Start button next to Stocks, Mutual Funds, Bonds, Other
  6. Answer the questions;
  7. Answer I'll Type It Myself on when it asks How do you want to Enter your 1099-B
  8. Click on Continue
  9. Select from the dropdown on the next screen the brokerage company
  10. Click Continue
  11. Select I'll enter one sale at a time and click Continue
  12. The transactions imported should be listed.  Just go through each of the transactions to review and verify.

One other option is after the complete-check you will be given the choice to review.   If you select review, it will take you through each item that needs to be reviewed.
