Does Net Investment Income Tax apply to prizes/awards? (1099-MISC Box 3 - Other Income)
Does 3.8% Net Investment Income Tax apply to prizes/awards (including bank account sign up bonuses) that are reported in Box 3 of 1099-MISC? I don't think it does, but I can't find any definitive answer anywhere.
