Get your taxes done using TurboTax

You cannot import a 1099 consolidated form. The consolidated 1099 form received from your broker may contain several parts, which should be clearly labeled on the form. Examples of some forms are 1099-INT, 1099-DIV, and 1099-B. Each part must be entered or imported in the corresponding section of TurboTax.

You can securely import your 1099 forms into TurboTax if your broker or financial institution is on our list of TurboTax Import Partners. If they're not, you can type it in yourself.

Here's how to import:

  1. Sign in to TurboTax and open or continue your return
  2. Search for the name of your form (like 1099-B), and select the Jump to link in the search results
  3. Follow the screens and you’ll be able to import your form

To manually enter information from a 1099-INT form, you can follow these steps in TurboTax:

  1. Open your tax return in TurboTax.
  2. Search for 1099-INT with the magnifying glass tool on the top of the page.
  3. Select the Jump to 1099-INT in the search results to go directly to the section to report your interest income.

To manually enter information from a 1099-DIV form, you can follow these steps in TurboTax:

  1. Open or continue your return.
  2. Search for 1099-DIV and select the Jump to link in your search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you receive any dividend income?
  4. Choose to manually enter your 1099-DIV by selecting I'll type it in myself.
  5. Follow the on-screen instructions to enter your 1099-DIV.

To manually enter information from a 1099-B form, you can follow these steps in TurboTax:

  1. Open (continue) your return if it isn't already open.
  2. In TurboTax, search for 1099-B and then select the Jump to link in the search results.
  3. Answer Yes to Did you sell stocks, mutual funds, bonds, or other investments in 2020?
    • If you see Here's the info we have for these investment sales, select Add More Sales.
  4. Answer Yes to Did you get a 1099-B or brokerage statement for these sales?
  5. At Let's get your tax info, choose to type it in yourself.
  6. Follow the instructions.
