Get your taxes done using TurboTax
SUCCESS!! Here's what I did (and it does jibe with what "garystlmo" said January 5, 2022):
1. I entered my current IP PIN (6 digits) through FEDERAL TAXES/Other Tax Situations in Turbotax. I HAVE to do that every year since I have set up an IP PIN in the past. The IRS creates a new one for me every January. But do not confuse THIS pin with the self-reported PINS you enter in the e-filing section of Turbotax.
2. At the end of Turbotax in the section where you enter data for e-filing,
a. I entered $0 for my spouse and my AGIs. (Doesn't make sense but it worked!)
b. I entered totally made-up 5-digit pins for myself and my spouse. (Totally unrelated to the IP PIN). Turbotax will not let you blank out those self-assigned pins so it appears that you MUST enter $0s in the AGI fields for your return to be accepted electronically.
This confusion needs to be cleared up in Turbotax. I don't know how any MFJ filers can e-file without difficulty.
