Stock trader or investor are not filing statuses. They are occupations that you enter on your tax return. The occupation you enter has no effect whatsoever on your tax return. They are for information purposes only.
So, feel free to put in the occupation that you like.
There is a distinction between investors, dealers and traders, depending on whether you trade stocks as a business or not.
