I managed to fix my issue by going back to my fed return and itemizing my charitable deduction in the deductions and credits section, this change then carried over to the state return and I was able to submit mine successfully. My understanding is that you don't technically have to itemize if it's under a certain amount (I think $300?) but if you don't then the numbers don't flow over to the state return correctly.
