1040 Line 12 wrong--how to correct manually?
Hello,
I'm taking the standard deduction. Basically there is a line 12a that inputs your standard deduction, and a 12b that has you put in your charitable contributions--cash. If you are married filing jointly, you're supposed to put $600 in 12b.
When TurboTax did it's review, it said that field was glitched and asked me to manually change. I googled and it said to fix to put in $300 in both places, which I did. But then I realized that person who was asking was a single filer--and in fact the form itself says if you are married filing jointly, this number should be $600. It also reduced my refund slightly.
Mostly in order to avoid any filing issues, I need to get back to that line on the 1040. I'm not sure how to do that either through the software, or on the backend. Is there a manual way to get to that field and edit it to say $600 again? I had called their tech support and the person didn't quite know how to get there.
TurboTax says all is good and ready to file but I know it isn't...
Thank you.
